Here’s How Osteotherapy & Pilates
Can Help You to Heal
Structure affecting Function & Anatomy affecting Physiology. The human body is a complex organism in which everything -bones, muscles, nerves, blood and lymphatic vessels, facia and fluid – is all one. The body grows, it self regulates, it heals. These very subtle forces and motions are continuous, just as respiration, and are palpable to the therapist. If these life processes are impaired by trauma, illness, habit or poor adaptation, physiology therefore function, will not be optimal. An Osteopath can feel these disruptions (somatic dysfunction) and gently with manipulation assist the patient in reorganising their physiology to promote health.
If you have any questions please get in touch, I will be delighted to discuss how treatment can apply to your situation.
What is Osteotherapy?
It is a system of diagnosis and treatment of a comprehensive range of musculoskeletal conditions. Osteotherapy works by encouraging the harmonious interconnection of the structure and function of the body, considering the wellbeing of ones mind, body, social and psychological elements of an individual.
I am a registered osteopath with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), running a private and fully insured practice in East Grand Rapids Michigan. Parking is available on-site.
You will be treated in a safe, fresh and professional environment as I apply the best of both established and recent medical knowledge to address your body’s needs. I am distinct in combining my osteotherapy knowledge with two decades of experience in classical Pilates and fitness.
In line with Andrew Taylor Still (the founder of osteopathy), I believe that the body has the ability to heal itself, and both therapist and authentic classical Pilates can guide this natural process, by bringing more balance to the body.
