Classical Pilates

Classical Pilates, the original “Method” created by Joseph Pilates and meticulously preserved by his protégé Romana Kryzanowska at Dragos studio in NYC, is a comprehensive system of exercises designed to strengthen the body and improve flexibility. Alexandra trained directly under and was certified by Romana herself in NYC, and she continues Joe’s and Romana’s legacy as a legitimate 2nd-generation Pilates teacher. The original Method emphasizes specific, controlled movements, precise alignment, and breath control, building physical strength and mental well-being. Rooted in the belief that a strong core is essential for a healthy body, Classical Pilates focuses on developing core strength while enhancing posture and balance. Alexandra’s dedication to maintaining Joe Pilates’ authentic techniques using Gratz Pilates equipment (built from Joe’s blueprints) ensures that her clients experience the full benefits of this transformative Method, which aims to create a harmonious balance between strength and flexibility.

The Osteopilates Difference

Alexandra and Pilates

Combining the principles of osteopathy and Pilates offers a powerful, holistic approach to recovery and long-term health. By addressing the root causes of pain with hands-on treatment and then strengthening the body with intelligent movement, patients can achieve lasting relief and prevent future issues.

Strengthening the Core

A strong core is essential for a healthy spine and is a key focus of Pilates. By strengthening these deep muscles, patients can better support and stabilize their back, which is crucial for those with lower back pain, disc issues, or SIJ dysfunction

Enhancing Body Awareness

Pilates enhances proprioception, helping patients to become more aware of their posture and movement patterns. This is vital for all patients, as it allows them to identify and correct habits that may contribute to their pain, especially with conditions like neck and chronic pain

Improving Joint Stability

For conditions such as hypermobility and osteoarthritis, Pilates helps to build muscle strength and stability around the joints. This support reduces the risk of injury, alleviates pain, and promotes safer, more controlled movement

Increasing Mobility

The low-impact exercises in Pilates improve flexibility and the range of motion in joints and the spine. This is particularly beneficial for conditions like osteoarthritis and RA, helping to reduce stiffness and improve overall physical function
